BMS College of Engineering, also known as Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah College of Engineering (BMSCE), stands as a private engineering institution in Basavanagudi, Bangalore, India. Its establishment in 1946 was credited to Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah and it is currently administered by the B.M.S. Educational Trust. The college is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, having gained autonomy in 2008.
Located on Bull Temple Road, Basavanagudi, diagonally opposite to the renowned Bull Temple, BMSCE, despite being a privately funded institution, receives partial governmental support from Karnataka. Over its 74-year history, BMSCE has fostered a massive count of more than 40,000 engineers and pioneers who have left an indelible mark on the world. The institution offers an array of 14 undergraduate and 15 postgraduate programs, spanning across both traditional and contemporary fields. Impressively, 14 of its departments are recognized as research hubs providing Ph.D. programs. Currently, more than 350 scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. degrees in these departments, having successfully produced 160 Ph.D. holders until date.
A hallmark of BMSCE lies in it being an autonomous institution, duly sanctioned by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). The institution has been diligently implementing outcome-based education since 2008, further garnering recognition as the initial institute in Karnataka to receive accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) in the Tier I format. More recently, it received an esteemed “A++” grade from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), under Cycle II.
BMSCE has the honor of being selected to receive the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) Scheme on Global Initiative of Academic Network (GIAN) and the National Doctoral Fellowship (NDF) – AICTE since 2018-19. Known to have one of the largest student populations among engineering colleges in Karnataka, BMSCE hosts approximately 6,000 students.
